Blow for Arsenal: Danny Welbeck suffers horror injury vs Sporting

Bad looking injury for Danny

Arsenal and striker Danny Welbeck have been dealt a huge blow after the Englishman suffered what looked to be a very serious injury against Sporting.

The forward has been on fire in cup competitions this season despite not starting many league games.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette have been preferred to Welbeck which will come as no surprise.

Though, Welbeck was very much on the cusp of taking a spot in the first team if either of those were not ready or performing badly.

He has scored two goals in two Carabao Cup appearances so far this season as well as netting twice in three games in the Europa League.

He even has one Premer League goal against West Ham despite only starting one game so far this season.

Though, if his injury is as bad as it initially looked at the Emirates, then we might not be seeing him in an Arsenal shirt again.

Wishing a speedy recovery

That is because there was some big cause for concern when Welbeck went down.

The expressions on his teammate’s faces said it all.

Mattéo Guendouzi was stunned looking at Welbeck getting treatment, as a leg brace was applied and the Englishman was supplied oxygen.

While it wasn’t clear how Welbeck suffered the injury, it was clear that it was serious.

Welbeck hasn’t had the best of luck with injuries in the past either.

He spent most of the time between the 2014/15 season and 2015/16 season on the sidelines.

He even underwent knee surgery and suffered from cartilage Damage.

Now, this is the latest of serious injuries that the Englishman has faced.

Social media wishes Welbeck well

It’s never a pretty sight to see such a hardworking player as Welbeck get so seriously injured.

On social media this evening, many football fans took the time to wish Welbeck well.
