Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has today discussed Alexis Sanchez’s difficulties with Manchester United to this point.
Sanchez joins United
Chilean attacker Sanchez made the move to Old Trafford from Arsenal in January, following a lengthy saga which saw the Red Devils pip fierce rivals Man City to his signing at the last-minute:

However, despite the 29-year-old’s arrival having been viewed as quite a coup for United at the time, Sanchez has since majorly flattered to deceive with Jose Mourinho’s side.
After racking up 80 goals across 166 appearances during his stint with Arsenal, Sanchez has thus far managed a return of just 4 goals in 28 outings in a Red Devils’ jersey.
Wenger on Sanchez
And one individual who knows Sanchez through-and-through has today revealed his opinion that a loss of confidence is to blame for the South American’s abrupt dip in form.
The individual in question is Arsene Wenger, who of course managed Sanchez for 3-and-a-half years during the pair’s time together at Arsenal.
Speaking in an interview with BeIN Sports, Wenger explained:
‘I believe he has lost confidence.’
‘The strength of Alexis Sanchez is to take initiative to dribble and to take people on.’
‘Those are the players who are most vulnerable when they lose confidence their game is based on that and having that feeling to take initiative, he has lost that slowly.’
‘Since the start of the season he had a high level of physical energy but he has lost that as well.’
‘Certainly he is refreshed now because Mourinho left him out for a while.’
“I believe he has lost confidence.”
